Lower School Counselor

EARJ is looking for an experienced and accomplished Lower School Counselor to join our Gávea campus team for July 2024.


The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy (Educational Orientation) and/or Psychology, Psychopedagogy or related field; 5-7 years of experience as a Lower School Counselor - preferred if in an international school context; solid experience working with children ranging from 3 - 12 years old, and their parents; working knowledge of counseling models, practices and resources; experience working with families and students in a multicultural school setting; experience managing behavioral and emotional needs with positive interventions.

The Counselor serves as an educational leader in the Lower School by supporting the social, emotional and academic needs of all students. The Counselor collaborates with the School Administration, faculty and staff to build a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment through education; best practices; and culturally responsive, data-informed prevention and intervention. The Lower School Counselor guides students from diverse international backgrounds to develop resilience and healthy coping strategies for success in school and life.
